What’s happening in New York?

In the bustling city and all across NY, our state team has been hard at work ensuring folks know the harm of anti-abortion crisis pregnancy centers, while facilitating informational sessions, and so much more! They also have amazing events coming up soon!

In January, our powerful NY Leadership Circle members Juliana and Faith facilitated an Anti-Abortion Center Review a Thon for their NYU Public Health class in ITALY! Our review-a-thons help attendees learn about the harm of anti-abortion crisis pregnancy centers and teach them how to expose them via online reviews on google and yelp because our communities deserve accurate and compassionate information not lies and coercion!

On February 6th, our NY Poderosa Leadership Circle member and Health Campaigns Associate  Luisa facilitated an informational session on the NY Health and NYS’s Coverage for All two bills championed by Senator Gustavo Rivera and Assemblymember Jessica Gonzalez Rojas.

On February 17th Latina Institute New York partnered with Palestinian Feminist Collective, Palestinian Youth Movement and Existence is Resistance for a Feminist Teach-in about the Congo, Sudan, and Palestine and all oppressed people across the globe. It was a day filled with community building, wellness, learning, and feminism!

The NY team continues advocating for the Reproductive Freedom and Equity Fund Bill introduced by AM Jessica Gonzalez Rojas and Senator Cordell Cleare in 2022. The bill passed in the senate again In January 2024!
