Statement from Lupe M. Rodríguez, Executive Director of the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Justice, on the confirmation of Pam Bondi as U.S. Attorney General
“We are outraged by Pam Bondi’s confirmation as Attorney General. Her long history of supporting policies like Arizona’s discriminatory ‘show me your papers’ law and lawsuits to block DACA harms Latine and im/migrant communities and makes her unfit to lead the Department of Justice. With the power to oversee immigration courts, misapply the Comstock Act, and influence critical decisions on appeals, she poses a grave threat to the safety of our communities and will advance Trump’s political agenda to detain and separate families. We refuse to stand by as our rights are stripped away by an Attorney General who promotes anti-immigrant rhetoric.”
Statement from Lupe M. Rodríguez, Executive Director of the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Justice, on the confirmation of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to lead the Department of Health and Human Services
“We strongly condemn RFK Jr.’s confirmation as Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services. We’re alarmed by his blatant disregard for science-based health care and his refusal to protect essential sexual and reproductive health care, especially as our communities already face barriers to accessing care and making our own decisions about our bodies and lives. At a time when we desperately need to ensure that everyone has access to health care, RFK Jr. is hellbent on pushing dangerous conspiracies that will do nothing to improve our health or safety.”
