Statement by Lupe M. Rodríguez, Executive Director at the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Justice, on CMS’ proposed rule to take health coverage away from DACA recipients

“We condemn the new proposed rule by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) that strips DACA recipients of their long-overdue access to affordable health care and imposes new restrictions on health coverage for immigrant communities. After waiting 10 years for coverage, DACA recipients are now having it ripped away by the Trump administration—once again putting their health and lives at risk.

“We’re committed to raising the voices of im/migrant communities to fight for the same rights as everyone else. We won’t stop until all of us, regardless of documentation status, have access to the health care and coverage we need to stay healthy and thrive.”
