Where We Are

New York

The New York Latina Advocacy Network (NY LAN) operates as an extension of NLIRH, serving as the voice and advocacy presence in New York. The NY LAN works with activists throughout New York City to organize our communities around issues-based campaigns that impact our families and our lives.

The NY LAN was established after a Latinas Organizing for Leadership and Advocacy (LOLA) training was held in New York in 2005. The NY LAN seeks to increase Latina visibility in the reproductive justice movement, cultivate well-informed leaders and build networks of activists in New York that will inform and support our state and national policy agenda and strengthen state and national reproductive justice activism. Implementing various civic engagement and community organizing strategies, the NY LAN is building a large base of Latinas/os who are trained on how to use a reproductive justice lens to organize their communities for change and develop spokespeople to lift up the voices of latinas/os in New York on a local, state, and national level.

Register for the 2019 NY LOLA TODAY!

The LOLA (Latina Organizing for Leadership and Advocacy) training is here!

This will be the first time the NLIRH’s New York Latina Advocacy Network (NY LAN) is hosting our signature LOLA training in the Bronx on May 17, 18, and 19th.

This intensive 2.5-day training will provide Latina/x activists with different educational sessions including the history of the movement for reproductive rights and justice, abortion access in our communities, models for community organizing and specific skills-building to prepare a campaign. After the training, graduates of the LOLA will be invited to be part of the NY LAN and our growing base  of Latina/x activists with the skills to become leaders in the local movement for reproductive justice.

Here is a sneak peak of what will be covered!
