There are layers of harmful and discriminatory obstacles that keep DREAMers – recipients of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program – from accessing affordable, quality healthcare. Under the Obama administration, DREAMers were denied eligibility to enroll in the Medicaid and CHIP programs and barred from accessing health coverage under the Affordable Care Act. The vast majority of DACA recipients are young, Latina/x individuals and over half identify as women. Due to systemic barriers, such as immigration status, language access, and internal government checkpoints that make accessing care more difficult, Latina/x DREAMers have been denied the tools to get the health care they need, including sexual and reproductive health care.
We now have an opportunity with the Biden Administration to make our voices heard and demand Salud, Dignidad y Justicia so that DREAMers can exercise their human right to healthcare.
Add your name below to support DREAMers and we will list you in our letter to the Administration on this issue!
