Trump’s “Revised” Refugee and Muslim Ban STILL Inhumane and Unconstitutional

Washington, D.C. — Today, President Trump introduced a revised version of his cruel and dangerous executive order banning travel from six Muslim-majority countries and barring refugees from entering the United States. This revised executive order comes less than a month after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, in a unanimous decision, found that the argument surrounding a ban on Muslims raised “serious allegations” and presented “significant constitutional questions.” Jessica González-Rojas, executive director of the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health, issued the following statement:

“President Trump is fooling no one with the revision of his highly prejudiced “travel” ban. This ban remains an outright attack against refugees and Muslims. This range of islamophobic and xenophobic orders continue to be indefensible, and disconnected from the values we hold as a country. Instead, they represent the sort of repugnant nativist vision that seeks to trample on the basic human rights of some of the world’s most vulnerable populations, particularly refugee children and women. NLIRH joins a nationwide movement which vehemently condemns and stands against xenophobia and racial discrimination. Together, we stand side by side as we fight for collective justice.
