Krystal provides assistance to the Development and Communications team at NLIRH.
Krystal is an alumnus from UCLA where she majored in biochemistry. As a young college student, Krystal immediately became interested in the medical field and soon became involved with organizations like Chicanos/Latinos for Community Medicine as well as the Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children. She has participated in various medical missions all throughout Mexico and Costa Rica. She also conducted clinical research in the UCLA Emergency Room with the program, Emergency Medicine Research Associates. As an active member of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc., Krystal has been involved with various college outreach programs geared towards promoting Latinas into higher education. This past year, Krystal enrolled in the UC Davis School of Medicine’s Post Baccalaureate Program and she is now currently applying to medical school for the 2010 entering class. Originally from Baldwin Park, California, she has worked with organizations like the Union Rescue Mission of Los Angeles as well as the Venice Free Clinic. Krystal hopes to continue to work in community involvement and healthcare reform and one day bring basic healthcare to the most underserved communities.
