At NLIRH, Elizabeth is responsible for advancing the Institute’s policy agenda and legislative priorities, and for managing the Washington, D.C. office.
Elizabeth comes to the Latina Institute with experience as a health care policy analyst, journalist and researcher. Elizabeth graduated from Oberlin College with highest honors and holds a Master's degree in international policy from Harvard. She also completed a graduate certificate in public health at Suffolk University's Sawyer School of Management in Boston with concentrations in financial management, policy and systems analysis, and marketing. She worked for the City of Cambridge, Massachusetts as a City Planner and as the Director of Policy and Operations for a health advocacy and direct-service organization for uninsured, GLBT, homeless and immigrant youth in Boston.
Elizabeth was among 16 Freedom Forum Diversity Institute Fellows who began daily newspaper careers in 2005. She has since worked for the New York Times Company, The Daily Hampshire Gazette, (Northampton, Mass.), and as a freelancer for several national and regional magazines. Her writing focused on social justice in health, education and politics. Elizabeth most recently served as Associate Director of The Population and Development Program at Hampshire College, (PopDev), where she directed new and existing programs and developed strategies for a national and international agenda to challenge conventional thinking and policies about population growth. Additionally, she helped develop new alliances as a member of the SisterSong national steering committee for environmental and reproductive justice.
