Latinas Won Important Victories on Election Day

Mississippi voters rejected the draconian "Personhood" initiative that would ban common forms of birth control, criminalize abortion even in the case of rape, incest, or life endangerment of the mother, and outlaw common IVF procedures.   Voters that hold a range of personal views about reproductive health issues including abortion agreed that this was an extreme intrusion on medical privacy. House Lawmakers Launch Latest Attack on Basic Women’s Health: Latinas’ Health Caught in the Crossfire

Washington, DC---- Anti-choice House lawmakers launched the latest attack on women’s health and family planning on Wednesday. In a House subcommittee hearing entitled "Do New Health Law Mandates Threaten Conscience Rights and Access to Care?," several lawmakers showed their true colors, arguing for the preferences of employers over the right of women to make their own contraceptive health decisions in consultation with their doctors.
