Our Issues
The work of the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health focuses on three main program areas:
- Abortion Access
- Reproductive Health Disparities
- Immigration Reform
The breadth of issues that fall under those program areas include:
- Advancing Immigrant Women’s Rights
- Expanding Abortion Access through legislative advocacy, including repeal of the Hyde Amendment
- Advocating Health Reform and health policies that address the needs of Latinas and immigrant women
- Examining the needs of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Latin@ community
- Shifting discourse on teen pregnancy to one that focuses on Healthy Pregnancies, Parenting and the sexual health of Young Latinas
- Ensuring Contraceptive Equity for the Latina community
- Exploring Latinas’ experiences with sterilization
- Promoting Civic Engagement for NLIRH’s activists and allies
- Protecting Latinas’ rights in the Courts
