Wilmarie serves as the Public Affairs Associate at the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health in the Washington, D.C. Public Affairs office, where she serves as a content developer for NLIRH in producing varied and integrated communications products.

Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, her activism is informed by the long history of reproductive oppression faced by Puerto Rican women in and outside the island. Wilmarie conducted research for her undergraduate thesis, Choice and Reproductive Justice: Understandings of Puerto Rican Women's Sterilization Experiences, to understand how community health workers of a reproductive health organization in Puerto Rico relate to dominant sterilization narratives. Her research's findings point to the necessity of reproductive justice as the framework with which we talk and fight for reproductive rights.

Wilmarie spent a semester with the Mexico Solidarity Network learning about Mexican social movements from the Zapatistas, the National Urban and Peasant Council, and the Frente Popular Francisco Villa Independiente. Living and working beyond a theoretical level allowed her to ground her advocacy of immigration policies and immigrant women's health and rights, and solidified her commitment to movement and coalition building.

A  recent graduate from New College of Florida, Wilmarie holds a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and Gender Studies.
