NLIRH Condemns House Vote on Tax Bill, Urges Senators to Vote No

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Thursday afternoon, House Republicans voted on a tax bill that will decimate Medicare, Medicaid, and programs that help millions of children with low-incomes without any hearings or a score from the Congressional Budget Office. Late Thursday night, the Senate Finance Committee passed their own version of the tax bill and the full Senate is set to vote on it after Thanksgiving recess.

NLIRH Condemns Trump’s Administration Newest Attempt to Sabotage the ACA

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the Trump administration released a new Executive Order that guts key Affordable Care Act (ACA) consumer protections, allowing insurance companies to provide empty plans to employers and individuals. This Executive Order exempts employers participating in Associated Health Plans from core ACA requirements, including providing maternity care, cervical cancer screenings, mental health services, and necessary preventive healthcare services.

The Graham-Cassidy ACA Repeal Bill Cancelled

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the vote for the Senate’s latest version of the Affordable Care Act repeal bill, the Graham-Cassidy-Heller-Johnson amendment, was cancelled. If passed, the bill would have, among other things, eliminated the ACA’s subsidies for private insurance, made being a woman a pre-existing condition again, put an end to Medicaid expansion, and gut Medicaid programs. The Cassidy-Graham ACA Repeal Bill: The Latest Abomination In The Current Administration’s Bag of Horrors

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In the Senate’s latest move to repeal the Affordable Care Act, the Cassidy-Graham bill was introduced today. The bill, which in many ways is the most radical ACA Repeal bill to date would, among other things, eliminate the Affordable Care Act’s subsidies for private insurance, eliminate the cost-sharing reduction payments for low-income Americans, put an end to Medicaid expansion, and gut Medicaid programs.

NLIRH CELEBRATES VICTORY FOR HEALTH EQUITY

Washington, D.C. — Today, the GOP-led Affordable Care Act (ACA) repeal bill was struck down by a bipartisan vote in the Senate. The ACA repeal bill would have stripped millions of people from access to critical and affordable healthcare, and rolled back historic gains for individuals and families across the nation. Because of the ACA, Latinxs have seen the largest reduction in uninsured rates than any other group. Among non-elderly Latinxs, the uninsured rate declined 35 percent between 2010 and 2015.
