Communications Research Associate


Janny Llanos joins the Public Affairs/Communications team of the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health as a Communications Research Associate.

She collaborates with the Senior Director of Communications and the Public Affairs Associate to achieve NLIRH’s strategic communications goals by leveraging traditional media, assisting with social media strategy and execution and engaging with our online communities.  Janny is a doctoral candidate in Anthropology at the CUNY Graduate Center.  

She has a strong research background and a keen and passionate interest in reproductive justice which she sees as an important analytic framework and a mode of praxis.

She is drawn to this type of work as both an activist and an academic. Janny is trained as a full-spectrum doula and believes wholeheartedly in fighting for equality and supporting women in making the best decisions for their life and their bodies.

Before initiating her doctoral studies and joining NLIRH, Janny worked as a public health educator in Guinea, Conakry, where she initiated programs to address the health needs of local families with an emphasis on women and children. Her research interests are focused on the intersection of race and reproductive care in Brazil.
