Debbie Linares

Operations Assistant

Debbie serves as the Operations Assistant at the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health in the New York office, where she provides administrative and accounting support under the direction of the Operations Manager and Senior Director of Operations and Finance.

Both her parents emigrated from El Salvador to escape civil war in the 80's. They speak very little English, so she serves as an all-around interpreter; specifically, for her mother.  At a very young age, she practiced writing checks, balancing both their checkbooks and began formulating monthly budgets on her parent’s expenses. Additionally, she often accompanied her father to meet with his tax preparer during tax seasons; all which sparked her interest in Accounting and Finance. Debbie majored in Accounting at the State University of New York at Plattsburgh and plans to continue her education.

Throughout her college career, Debbie has volunteered through St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the American Cancer Society, and the National Kidney Foundation, which solidified her devotion and passion for organizations that make a difference.  She also volunteered in the NO H8 Campaign on campus as an advocate for the LGBT community after Proposition 8 passed in California amending the state Constitution to ban same-sex marriage.

Debbie is thrilled to bring her accounting skills and passion for helping underprivileged people, especially young Latina women, to her position as an Operations Assistant.
