On International Workers Day, Advocates Demand End of Raids in Front of Virginia ICE Office and Call for #JUSTICEFORALL

FAIRFAX, VA - In the morning of May 1, advocates rallied from the Dunn Loring Metro Station to the front of the Northern Virginia Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Field Office to call for justice and to commemorate International Workers Day.

Texas House Votes to Criminalize Immigrant Community

AUSTIN, TX — On Thursday, the Texas House approved Senate Bill 4 (SB 4), an extreme anti-sanctuary cities bill that would deputize state and local officers to act as immigration agents. After 16 hours of debate, SB 4 was amended to include language similar to the dangerous and unconstitutional Arizona “show your papers” bill, a hateful law that was eventually repealed.  If signed by the governor, SB 4 would allow police to question any person about their immigration status.

Senate Votes to Block Access to Basic Reproductive Healthcare

Washington, D.C. — Today, Vice President Mike Pence cast a tie-breaking vote that paved the way for the Senate to overturn a federal regulation that prohibits states from blocking access to health clinics that provide essential health services for women. The reversal of this rule targeting Planned Parenthood health centers and other independent clinics would deny patients access to contraception, cancer screenings, and other basic preventative care services.
