NLIRH lanza campaña para acabar con el estigma del aborto en la comunidad latina

MIAMI, FL— Hoy, el Instituto Nacional de Latinas para la Salud Reproductiva (NLIRH, por sus siglas en inglés) anunció el lanzamiento de su campaña Yo Te Apoyo, cuyo objetivo es alterar la narrativa actual sobre el aborto en la comunidad latina. La campaña, que se lanzó en Miami y Orlando, muestra las historias de familiares y amigos que apoyan, aceptan y respetan la decisión de un ser querido de poner fin a un embarazo.

NLIRH Launches Myth-Busting Campaign to End Abortion Stigma in Latino Community

MIAMI, FL— Today, the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health (NLIRH) announced the launch of their Yo Te Apoyo/I Support You campaign, which aims to disrupt the current narrative surrounding abortion in the Latino community. The campaign, which launched in Miami and Orlando, showcases the stories of family and friends who stand beside, accept, and respect their loved one’s decision to end a pregnancy.

The Graham-Cassidy ACA Repeal Bill Cancelled

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the vote for the Senate’s latest version of the Affordable Care Act repeal bill, the Graham-Cassidy-Heller-Johnson amendment, was cancelled. If passed, the bill would have, among other things, eliminated the ACA’s subsidies for private insurance, made being a woman a pre-existing condition again, put an end to Medicaid expansion, and gut Medicaid programs. WASHINGTON, D.C. – El Instituto Nacional de Latinas para la Salud Reproductiva (NLIRH) presenta su Cumbre Nacional de Abogacía (NAS, por sus siglas en inglés) bienal, los días 18 y 19 de septiembre de 2017 en Washington, DC. Las participantes de la cumbre viajarán de diversas comunidades de todo el país para debatir el vínculo entre la justicia reproductiva y la política de inmigración. El propósito de NAS 2017 es desarrollar el poder de la comunidad y catalizar el cambio de políticas al empoderar e involucrar a los líderes latinos en el proceso político.

The Cassidy-Graham ACA Repeal Bill: The Latest Abomination In The Current Administration’s Bag of Horrors

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In the Senate’s latest move to repeal the Affordable Care Act, the Cassidy-Graham bill was introduced today. The bill, which in many ways is the most radical ACA Repeal bill to date would, among other things, eliminate the Affordable Care Act’s subsidies for private insurance, eliminate the cost-sharing reduction payments for low-income Americans, put an end to Medicaid expansion, and gut Medicaid programs.

Temporary Block on the Anti-Immigrant, Unconstitutional SB 4 – NLIRH Will Continue to Fight and Resist

AUSTIN, TX — On Wednesday, U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas temporarily blocked Senate Bill 4 (SB 4) from taking effect on September 1. SB 4 is an unconstitutional racial profiling law that would license Texas law enforcement and campus police departments to act as immigration agents. Starting on September 1, SB 4 would have made 40 percent of the population in Texas targets of police questioning regarding immigration status, including children.
