ORGANIZATIONAL DESCRIPTION: Founded in 1994, the mission of the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health (NLIRH) is to build Latina power to guarantee the fundamental human right to reproductive health, dignity and justice. We elevate Latina leaders, mobilize our families and communities, transform the cultural narrative and catalyze policy change.​

NLIRH seeks a highly-qualified candidate to join its growing team as Director of Human Resources. The Director of Human Resources Human Resources Director is an important role whose job it is to plan, direct, and coordinate the administrative functions of the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health. They will oversee the recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of new staff; plan and administer personnel policies, monitor and update policies; coordinate and deliver trainings; and serve as a link between management and employees.  Our Director of Human Resources Human Resources Director must be well-versed in the areas of communication and mediation, possess strong organizational and analytical skills; and have a strong personal code of ethics and commitment to social justice and health equity.

The Director of Human Resources will report to the Senior Director of Operations and Finance and will be expected to support staff in New York City, Washington D.C., Florida, Texas, Virginia, and additional sites as they open (potentially Arizona in the near future).​

Reports to: Senior Director of Finance and Operations

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Establish and maintain employee policies, procedures, and programs, including onboarding and off-boarding procedures and exit interviews;
    • Manage and coordinate staff hiring processes, including interviews and orientation;
    • Develop and implement evaluation processes throughout the organization;
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local labor requirements;
    • Monitor existing and new legislation;
    • Ensure adherence to requirements and advise management on needed actions;
    • Develop processes for HR administration and compliance;
  • Administer benefit programs including insurance, PTO, leaves of absence, and employee assistance;
    • Coordinate open enrollment and work with Senior Director to make sure we remain competitive on all compensation and benefits fronts.
    • Coordinate and administer all aspects of employee leaves and worker’s compensation to ensure compliance.

  • Administers all human resources services:
    • Employee counseling

    • Compliance with office regulations and employee treatment

    • Policy development, citation, and documentation
    • Employee to employee mediation and facilitation
  • Collaborate with the Operations team to proactively improve work processes and promote worker health and safety.
    • Manage an effective employee relations strategy  that ensure the overall well-being of staff, a safe working environment, free from discrimination and harassment.
    • Conduct workplace investigations and resolve employee complaints.
  • Manage HR records, data integrity and provide HR reports and analysis as needed.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years HR experience, preferably at a non-profit organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Bi-lingual, Spanish
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing HR strategy and processes
  • Mediation and consultation expertise
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Critical thinking and evaluation skills
  • Strong code of ethics
  • Proficiency in relationship management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with experience.​

BENEFITS: NLIRH offers excellent benefits, including health insurance, vacation, personal, sick leave. $750 offered for Professional Development.​
