Carlota Arias serves as the Virginia Field Coordinator at the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health, where she is responsible for building a cadre of Latina activists to advance and support the NLIRH agenda through organizing and outreach to community members and organizations. She started her advocacy career back in 2007. Since then, Carlota has been committed to social issues and needs of the community such as civil and human rights, gender inequality, immigration challenges, housing rights, public policy development, and program development aimed at covering those issues and meeting those needs. 

She holds a Master's degree in Sustainable Human Development, Globalization, and Local Development as a result of her participation in UNESCO Chairs Program from Barcelona. She also holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science with a concentration in Public Policy from American University located in Washington, D.C.
