2016 Florida Latino/a Voter Poll

2016 Florida Latino/a Voter Poll

The National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health (NLIRH) in conjunction with PerryUndem Research/Communication released new polling today which found a strong majority of Florida Latino/a voters believe abortion should be legal, affordable and covered by health insurance, no matter the source of coverage.

The poll comes on the heels of a district court decision to block Florida’s House Bill 1411—a law that would have denied funding to Planned Parenthood and other clinics for basic preventative care including breast and cervical cancer screenings, birth control, STI and HIV testing, as well as sexual health education for thousands of patients. This is a meaningful victory that, as this poll shows, is supported by Florida Latino/as. The poll also closely mirrors recent findings regarding attitudes nationally across racial and ethnic groups and reconfirms findings from a similar national poll NLIRH released earlier this year.
