Sheila recently graduated from The Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, New Brunswick, with a B.S. in Public Health and Spanish minor. Her spring 2010 internship at NLIRH focused on researching the barriers that community health centers have in providing reproductive health care to Latina women. Throughout this term, she will continue to advance this project and also focus on other reproductive justice work. She is also interning at RHEDI, the Center for Reproductive Health Education in Family Medicine in the Bronx, where she will be doing research on the access of contraceptives to homeless women. As alumnae, she has already joined the Latino Alumni Association of Rutgers University and is the Area Administrative Assistant for her sorority, Lambda Theta Alpha, Latin Sorority, Inc. She plans to further advance her studies within one year by getting her Masters in Public Health. Her passions include reading, eating, dancing, and traveling.
