What's the REAL problem? Blog Carnival

In conjunction with this year's Latina Week of Action for Reproductive Justice, we'll be hosting a blog carnival. Last year we asked you all to answer the question "What's your contraception story?" and the responses were incredible. This year, during the week of August 1-5, we'll be asking members of our community to answer the question "What's the real problem?" when it comes to how immigrant women are treated.
A framework released through our white paper and subsequent campaign about young Latinas and healthy pregnancies, the What's the Real Problem? framework asks us to examine what's really behind the targeting of immigrant women in our communities. The legislation, dialogue and rhetoric focus on the lives and choices of the women in our communities, but we know the problem is much deeper and likely systemic rather than individual.
For this year's blog carnival we invite you to join us in answering the question, What's the Real Problem? In regards to immigration and specifically how immigrant women are treated.
To join the blog carnival, simply post your response to this question and email your link to miriam [at] latinainstitute [dot] org by August 5th. We will include all posts in round-ups on our blog, website and email newsletter.
